There are people who make a living by studying the stars in the sky and the stars in Hollywood. Meet three professional astrologers who are combining their passions for the constellations and celebrities. These pros host their own pop culture podcasts, write for empires like Cosmopolitan, and even make “Cosmic Playlists” for Spotify. Even if you’re not a celebrity their work will surely entertain you.

  1. Kyle Thomas

Kyle Thomas is a professional astrologer who lives in Los Angeles, the iconic home to the stars. He works with celebrities, runs horoscope Instagram accounts (@Horoscopes and @Horo.ScopesDaily), has been featured in several magazines, written for blogs, and hosts the podcast AstroKiki Radio. Season one of AstroKiki Radio debuted in 2019. The hour long episodes were centered around how the planets affect our favorite entertainers. Thomas would analyze the astrology behind pop culture and even make predictions for the future. He was also regularly joined by a guest. Thomas is also well known for his articles that follow the same format. He has used astrology to analyze celebrity relationships, best friends, Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death, the college admissions scandal, and even Netflix’s Tiger King

2. Aliza Kelly

On the other side of the country, Aliza Kelly is a prominent astrologer in New York City. Kelly is Cosmopolitan’s resident astrologer where she writes horoscopes and “Ask Astrolobestie,” her monthly advice column. She also hosts her own podcast, Stars Like Us, described as “One-part astrology school and one-part talk show.” The hour long weekly show covers pop culture topics such as fashion, lifestyle trends, and conspiracy theories. Kelly is always joined by a fellow astrologer or expert in each episode. If you want to know what cocktail you should be drinking this weekend, she has an answer for that too in her book, The Mixology of Astrology: Cosmic Cocktails for Every Sign. Basically Kelly is a source that can astrologically relate any and all things to pop culture.

3. Chani Nicholas

Zip back over to the West Coast to meet Chani Nicholas, another Los Angeles based astrologer. She has over 20 years of experience, during which she has written for The Atlantic, The New Yorker, The New York Times, and Rolling Stone. In recent months she has hosted a YouTube series for Netflix called “Star Power,” where she sat down with celebrities, like Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, and read their birth chart. She’ll even produce your birth chart for you, here. Nicholas is probably best known for the creation of “Cosmic Playlists.” She curated playlists for each of the zodiac signs that can be found on Spotify. She said, “It’s a monthly horoscope in music form.” Each playlist contains 30 songs.

These astrological experts are constantly using their creativity to weave their craft and pop culture together. Even if astrology isn’t an entirely believable concept, it’s easy to see that it sure is an entertaining one. It looks like the future will consist of more zodiac themed social media, podcasts, music, and even recipes. We don’t need to read our horoscope to know that we can continue to rely on these mystical individuals to spread their knowledge of the stars through the stars.
